A Danish referee for the match against Zenit

A Danish referee for the match against Zenit

The match officials for the encounter between Zenit and Juventus will be of Danish nationality. The match valid for Group H of the Champions League will be played on Tuesday at 18:30CET. The referee for the match will be the well-experienced Claus Bo Larsen who already refereed Juventus in the past.

The other time Bo Larsen controlled a Juventus match has quite a few things in common with the one against Zenit. The match was in fact that away to Dinamo Kievo in 2002,, valid for the last day of the group stage. Even back then Juventus had already qualified for the next stage but still managed to win by 2-1 (goals by Salas and Zalayeta),, subsequently eliminating the Ukrainian side and permitting Newcastle to qualify. The team coached by Lippi that year reached the final in Mancherster.

Even Zenit have good memories of Bo Larsen since the Danish referee controlled the Supercup match which the Russians won against European Champions, Man United.
The referee will be assisted by Anders Norrestand and Henrik Sonderby, who were also present at the Supercup final. The fourth official will be Thomas Vejlgaard.
