Buffon Back And Playing By January

Buffon Back And Playing By January

The festive season has come early and the cheers will be loud in Vinovo as Buffon is back in full training...

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has given coach Claudio Ranieri an early Christmas present as he has returned to full training with the rest of the squad.

The Italian number one has been out since September with a groin injury, but he returned to training last month.

The Old Lady has now been dealt further good news as Buffon took part in full training with the team for the first time since the injury against Cagliari.

Buffon trained with the other goalkeepers and, as ever, he was in great shape in front of goal, pulling off a number of good saves during Wednesday morning's session.

His return will be a massive boost for Juve as he is expected to be back in the running for a first-team place soon after the Christmas break, meaning he will be available for important Champions League and Coppa Italia matches, as well as the Scudetto race.

Alex Manninger has covered well in place of the Italian but he is likely to lose his starting berth when 'Gigi' returns.

Meanwhile, Claudio Marchisio is in doubt for the last game of the year against Atalanta on Sunday as he has been struck down with 'flu.
