Ranieri enters Scudetto race

Claudio Ranieri has conceded that Juventus must see themselves as Scudetto contenders and reiterated his faith in Sebastian Giovinco.

The Old Lady tactician has been keen to play down his side's title chances this term, but Juve are just six points from top and have caught up with Milan.

“We have always said that we have to improve upon last year and it's not true that we are unwilling to think that way,” Ranieri said on Radio Anch'io Sport.

“We want to do the best we can and a Juve Coach has no choice but to think about winning the Scudetto.

“We will fight on to improve from last year. Inter are going from strength to strength as their new boss is settling in, but we won't give up and we want to be the Nerazzurri's main rivals.

There have been suggestions that Azzurrini ace Giovinco would leave Juve on loan after struggling to find first-team football this term.

“We believe in Giovinco,” Ranieri insisted. “He came back to us this year and he feels like a part of the Juve project.

“He needs to improve with us and if he shows me that he can do better than Pavel Nedved then he will get his chance.”
