Cobolli: ‹‹These are the matches that have to be won››
It is a clearly satisfied yet pragmatic president Cobolli Gigli who comments at the end eof the match against Lecce:‹‹These are the matches that have to be won. There was a good part of the match when I had no doubts about this but then during a certain period I started to fear the worse.››
The president had words of praise for the team’s performance but also for Giovinco and Amauri who scored the two goals that gave Juventus the three points. With regards to Giovinco being compared to Del Piero the president was clear: ‹‹Giovinco is Giovinco and Del Piero is Del Piero. Today he played a whole match and played very well, apart from scoring, that is. When he has the ball he is a great danger to the opponents. He is young but already a champion.››
Sunday sees Juventus in a direct encounter against Milan who are still joint-second with Juventus in the Serie A. In the meantime however, Juventus will play Bate Borisov for the last day of the first stage of the Champions League and Cobolli Gigli makes it a point to stress this: ‹‹Juventus and Milan are two first-class teams, two teams which are very technical. My theory is that Juventus play better against the bigger teams and I’m sure we’ll do well. But before Milan Juventus have another match against Bate and so only after this match will Juventus think of the next against Milan.››
