Giovinco Agrees New Contract - Reports

Giovinco Agrees New Contract - Reports

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus starlet Sebastian Giovinco will put pen to paper on his new contract after the international break.

The Azzurrini ace is considered by fans and pundits alike as a foundation for the future of the Old Lady. His positive loan spell at Empoli last term persuaded the Juve board to finally give the Atomic Ant a chance at the Stadio Olimpico.

After spending the early stages of the campaign on the bench, he is starting to get more games under his belt, and soon made his mark in the Champions League game with BATE Borisov, when provided two assists for Vincenzo Iaquinta to spark the Bianconeri's comeback.

But negotiations over a new contract had stalled over the past few weeks. Agent Andrea D'Amico was reportedly angry at the initial offer of just €500.000 per year and demanded that Giovinco was appreciated.

Now talks between the parties have resumed and the Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the diminutive striker is poised to put pen to paper on a contract extension after he comes back from his Italy Under-21 duties.

The deal would allegedly see Juve tie Seba to a long-term contract until 2013, with wages starting from €1m per season.

Giovinco had been targeted by a host of other sides in recent weeks, namely Arsenal, who were ready to pounce next summer to prise away one of the brightest talents in Italian football.
