The Bianconeri came into the game needing to win it and they did in style as a wonder goal from Del Piero and a second half header from Amauri did the business. Ruud Van Nistelrooy pulled one back but it wasn't enough.
Platini was in the stands watching the giants tussle and he is full of praise for Del Piero.
"Del Piero's goal was beautiful, a great strike," said Platini after the game.
"The game itself was also a good one."
The Old Lady lead group H and they are favourites to progress alongside the Spanish giants.
The much needed win is just what Juve needed following their recent woes and the pressure is likely to be lifted of Claudio Ranieri, well at least until Sunday when they take on bitter rivals Torino.
