Juve’s Derby Injury Casualties

The good news of Juventus’ 1-0 win in last night’s derby against Torino has been followed by the bad news of injuries suffered during the match...

Juventus beat bitter rivals Torino in the Turin derby on Saturday night by a narrow goal to nil score line. Bianconero striker Amauri scored his third goal in a week to give Juventus the win over Torino in a heated match up between the two teams that share the Olympic Stadium in Turin.

The victory was a relief for under-fire coach Claudio Ranieri after two league defeats on the trot for Juve. The squad play against Bologna on Wednesday evening in the second midweek Serie A game of the season but a few players are out of the match through injuries picked up in last night’s encounter.

The derby saw injuries to Paolo De Ceglie, Zdenek Grygera and Hasan Salihamidzic. The Italian Under-21 international fullback suffered an ankle sprain on the same joint that gave him problems during the Under-21’s last round of European Championship qualifying matches.

Czech defender Grygera has a problem with his left thigh muscle, while the Bosnian midfielder Salihamidzic has acute pain in his the left achilles tendon. All three are doubtful ahead of the Bologna game.
