Nedved: Juve 'Truly Love' Ranieri

After a sluggish spell, Juventus have finally returned to winning ways and Czech star Pavel Nedved explains why he gave coach Claudio Ranieri a big hug after the final whistle.

The Bianconeri were coming off a terrible run of results, including two consecutive defeats in Serie A against Palermo and Napoli and failure to register a victory since the 1-0 at Cagliari on September 21.

However, an impressive performance against Spanish champions Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek and the Derby success over arch-rivals Torino have eased the pressure on the embattled ex-Chelsea boss.

"That hug was significant," Nedved told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "I ran toward him in order to answer all that was alleged over the past few weeks.

"We badly wanted this win for our fans and also ourselves, but most of all we wanted it for him, as he always supported us. We truly love him."

A fantastic solo effort by Brazilian hitman Amauri soon after the restart proved enough to edge out the Granata at the Stadio Olimpico, but the Old Lady continue to be plagued by injuries as Zdenek Grygera and Hasan Salihamidžic both picked up muscular problems.

"I asked to be replaced at half time, for I felt pain in my knee following Aimo Diana's foul," admitted the 36-year-old.

"However, Grygera and Salihamidžic were both injured, hence I was forced to hang on. But now I am even more eager to play in Bologna next Wednesday."
