Casiraghi: Giovinco Is Spectacular

Italy under-21 coach Pier Luigi Casiraghi has hailed Sebastian Giovinco following the striker's excellent season with Empoli.

The Juventus-owned starlet has been brilliant for the Tuscan side this season and he his goals have kept Empoli's hopes of survival up.

Giovinco is likely to be heading back to Turin once the season comes to a close on Sunday and Casiraghi believes he will be a major player at the Bianconeri.

"He has scored so many incredible goals but most importantly he has silenced his critics by playing spectacularly all season," Casiraghi told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Azzurrini coach however was not prepared to reveal whether Giovinco would be a part of his 23 man squad for the Beijing Olympics later this year.

"It's still a little early to say who will be in the squad, I will choose based on the needs and requirements of my side.

"It will not be easy beacuse there is also the small matter of getting the clubs to allow the players leave for international duty.

"There is still plenty of time, we don't have to decide until July."

Palermo are after Giovinco and they wanted him as part of the Juve-Amauri deal but the Bianconeri will not let their prized asset go so easily.
