Nedved On European Push

Nedved On European Push

Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved insists the Bianconeri need to reinforce their squad if they are to have any chance of winning next year’s Champions League.

The Old Lady qualified for Europe’s greatest club competition with ease this season but they will need to get to the group stages of the Champions League by overcoming the preliminaries in July.

Nedved is adamant that his side need to bolster all their departments if they are to compete with the crème de la crème of European football.

“I believe that you need strong players if you are to win the Champions League,” Nedved told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have great players but I still think that we have to improve in that aspect.

“Our objectives next season are to do well in both the Champions League and in Serie A and I think that we can.

“I am delighted with what we have achieved over the last few years given the fact that we were penalised so heavily but it’s onwards and upwards from here.”

The former Lazio man was also full of praise for his team mate and Serie A top-scorer Alessandro Del Piero.

“He (Del Piero) is very important to this side. I don’t think I have ever seen him score so many goals in a season. He has been a phenomenon,” concluded Nedved.

The Bianconeri are in the process of bringing in new faces to the squad and president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has promised fans that he will do his best to try and strengthen the team as required by Claudio Ranieri.
