First day in Hong Kong

First day in Hong Kong

The first official day of the “Costa Cruises Juventus Asia-Pacific Tour 2008”, now in its Hong Kong stage, was already an intense one for the squad. After landing in the morning, the 19 called up players immediately held a training session supervised by Claudio Ranieri, at the Hong Kong Stadium, the ground where they will play their first friendly on Thursday, against South China. The game will kick off at 8.45 local time (2.45 pm CET) and will be shown live in Italy on Sky TV (on the Sky Sport 1 and SuperCalcio channels) and later ‘as live’ on Juventus Channel, with match commentary by Antonio Paolino.

Juventus' stay in Hong Kong has naturally attracted the attention of both the local fans and the media. From the arrival at the airport onwards, the team has been greeted with a lot of enthusiasm by local Juventus fans (there are plenty of those even in this part of the world) who at last had the chance to see their idols in person.

The media schedule is also rather intense. Before training, Manager Claudio Ranieri, Team Manager Gianluca Pessotto and David Trezeguet took part in a press conference at a large shopping centre located in the city, to present Thursday night's event. The friendly between the Bianconeri and South China won't be the only match of the evening. Indeed there will be another friendly beforehand between Manchester City (managed by Sven Goran Erikkson, who was at the press conference) and the South China Invitation Team, a side made up of local players.

Two other members of the group also met the media. Jonathan Zebina and Hasan Salihamidzic were guests of local TV programme Now Sports, where they show Italian football games to Hong Kong audiences.
