Ciro Ferrara points out Juventus have more “leaders” than Antonio Cassano-dependent Sampdoria, but loses Martin Caceres to a fractured nose.
The Bianconeri welcome second-placed Samp on Wednesday night in a game you can watch LIVE from 19.45 GMT.
Caceres won’t be taking part, as in this afternoon’s training session he accidentally clashed heads with Fabio Cannavaro and fractured his nose. The Spaniard will go under the knife tomorrow.
The official Juventus website also notes Felipe Melo is in doubt with a bruised left ankle, while Vincenzo Iaquinta is out for six weeks after knee surgery.
“Cassano has not changed, he is just as strong as he was last season,” said Coach Ferrara.
“He is crucial at Samp, decisive and always plays an important role for the team. Aside from Cassano they also have a system that allows them to play good football, as there are other players doing very well there.”
The Bianconeri boss was asked when summer signing Diego would step up to be as dominant a figure as Cassano is at Sampdoria.
“It is more difficult to find a single leader at Juve. Cassano is more of a focal point bringing the squad together.”
