Del Piero Still Waiting For Azzurri Call-Up

Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero expressed his slight disappointment at being substituted in his final game of the season against Sampdoria on Saturday afternoon, but also looked ahead to Euro 2008...

Del Piero could be handed a call-up for the Italian national team for Euro 2008, even though it is still unclear what decision Roberto Donadoni will take.

"There is the question mark about it as there are no news as of yet," declared the Juventus captain. "I'm just keeping on waiting."

'Pinturicchio' was a bit disappointed at being substituted in the final game against Sampdoria, as he would have preferred to stay on the pitch until the end.

"I don't want to say anything in particular - whatever happened, happened," he explained.

"Every time I come out of the pitch, I must have given all that I had and be with a clean conscience. It's clear that, at that moment, I was disappointed and I think that it was clear.

"Considering the conditions of the game, considering that there was nothing at stake, apart from personal things, I would have preferred to stay on the pitch," concluded Del Piero
