Napoli To Beat Juve To Uruguay Starlet

Napoli To Beat Juve To Uruguay Starlet

Napoli are looking highly likely to beat Juventus to the signature of young Nacional striking star Bruno Fornaroli, according to the player’s agent.

Fornaroli is regarded as one of South America’s most promising forwards, and this season he has scored nine goals in just 11 games in the Uruguayan Clausura, as well as hitting the back of the net twice in the Copa Libertadores.

The 20-year-old is wanted by a host of Serie A squads, but the two most interested are Juventus and Napoli.

The two clubs’ transfer chiefs Alessio Secco and Pierpaolo Marino are believed to be going toe-to-toe for Fornaroli, but according to the player’s agent it is Marino and Napoli who are far ahead in the race.

"The fact that Napoli like Fornaroli is nothing new,” Vincenzo D'Ippolito told Radio Marte.

“I say that the Azzurri club are certainly ahead of all the other Italian clubs regarding the possibility of signing the player. It is the same kind of thing that happened with Walter Gargano last year."

Uruguayan midfielder Gargano joined the Partenopei from Danubio last summer, and has had a fine first season in Serie A.

D'Ippolito added: "If Fornaroli is to come to Italy it is highly likely that it will be with the shirt of Napoli.

“Nacional Montevideo are not completely sure if they want to sell the striker yet, but I believe that as from tomorrow they will begin to seriously consider all requests."

Napoli have signed a number of superb youngsters over the past 12 months, including Marek Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Fabiano Santacroce. They have also been tipped by some sources to purchase Bolivian starlet Marcelo Moreno from Cruzeiro.
