We Need More Players
Ranieri Tells Board: We Need More Players
Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has told the board that he needs more players if the club are to compete on two fronts next season.
The Bianconeri’s first year back in top-flight football was a reasonably successful one, as they finished third in Serie A and qualified for the Champions League.
However the return to Europe’s premier club competition will make things much tougher for the Old Lady next term as they will have to fight it out on two fronts.
Ranieri believes that his current squad is not big or strong enough to make a serious impact, and he is pleading with the club’s board to make a number of transfers this summer.
"The best players for me this season were Zanetti, Molinaro, Salihamidzic and Nocerino,” said The Tinkerman.
“I would keep all of them, and the same goes for Tiago to.
“My thoughts are simple - we are not the same Juventus that we were two years ago [before Calciopoli].
“Then we had 14 champions available, I have much less and, with two competitions to be addressed, we risk getting into difficulty.
“For this reason, even if Amauri arrives, I expect other new faces."
Palermo striker Amauri is still expected to join Juventus, even if there has been yet another hold up in his proposed transfer.
