Ranieri: Del Piero A Real Champion
Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri described Alessandro Del Piero as a Champion and he calls for the striker to be included in the Azzurri squad for Euro 2008.
Del Piero has had a magnificent season for the Bianconeri and he has scored an incredible 17 goals in Serie A this season- his most prolific for the club in the last decade.
Many have given Pinturricchio their backing for his inclusion in Roberto Donadoni's final 23 man squad and now Ranieri has joined the bandwagon.
"I really think Del Piero has convinced Donadoni," Ranieri told Guerrin Sportivo.
"Alessandro did not do well against France but who did in that game? I would definately take him. "
At the start of the season I didn't use him much and he must have felt like other players on the bench, but the difference is that he did not give up.
"Del Piero is a champion and an excellent professional and there aren't many like him in the world."
Donadoni stll hasn't announced his final squad but the Italian media have already predicted that Del Piero will be going to the Euro's later this summer.
