Juve Offer Iaquinta For Aquilani
Juve Offer Iaquinta For Aquilani
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are hoping to beat Arsenal to the signing of Alberto Aquilani by offering Vincenzo Iaquinta as part of an exchange deal.
Aquilani’s future at Roma is in doubt as he has still yet to sign a proposed new contract, and there are mumblings that the club are unable to meet his demands.
A host of top European clubs would jump at the chance to sign the promising 23-year-old midfielder, and yesterday his agent revealed that Arsenal were in talks to snap him up.
“Aquilani is speaking to Arsenal,” declared Vincenzo Morabito.
“We will have to see if Roma will be able to match his demands.
However the Gazzetta today says that Juventus could be set to trump Arsenal for Aquilani by offering striker Iaquinta in return.
The 28-year-old only signed from Udinese last summer, and despite a good season, he was left increasingly frustrated at having largely been a substitute for the prolific David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero.
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is in favour of the exchange as he is a huge admirer of Iaquinta, having successfully coached him at Udinese in the past.
Meanwhile Juventus have given up hope of signing Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso after being told by manager Rafa Benitez that the Spaniard was not for sale.
