Amauri: Juve Are My Nazionale
Amauri: Juve Are My Nazionale
Brazilian hitman Amauri netted a fabulous goal in the Derby against Torino last Saturday and claims he is unconcerned by the rumours about his international future, as Juventus feel already like a national side.
The former Palermo marksman has yet to receive a call-up from either his home country or Italy and is currently in a sort of limbo.
While the process to acquire Italian citizenship is not completed yet and therefore he is not technically eligible for the Azzurri, he could well be capped by Brazil boss Carlos Dunga, as the striker has stated several times that his native country is his first choice.
But yesterday Dunga confessed that Amauri is not part of his current plans, as Adriano and Luis Fabiano are ahead of him in the Selecao pecking order, even though he is monitoring the marksman's progress very closely.
However, Amauri seems totally unfazed and is certainly not losing any sleep over it: "I feel that Juve are my only national side at the moment," he revealed, according to Datasport.it.
The 28-year-old has bagged three goals in the last three Bianconeri outings and has already five to his name in the top flight so far.
"Scoring a goal in the Derby was marvelous, as it is such a special match" enthused Amauri, "much of the credit goes to Pavel Nedved who made a great assist, but I was also a bit fortunate with my shot.
"Either way, the important thing is I hit the back of the net and my goal helped us win the game. I am going through a great moment, but we need to keep going now.
"After defeating Real Madrid and Toro, I can safely say Juve are not afraid of anyone."
