We Have To Beat Roma To Rise Further - Chiellini
Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini admits the way forward from now on is to keep on winning games starting from Roma this weekend and he has hailed Pavel Nedved following the midfielder's excellent showing against Bologna on Wednesday night...
The Bianconeri had no trouble in taking maximum points against a struggling Bologna side who hardly threatened all night.
The game ended 2-1 for the Old Lady thanks to Nedved's brace. Marco Di Vaio pulled one back for the Emiliani but it was not enough.
Chiellini is now looking ahead to the next game against Roma and he believes it's onwards and upwards for his team.
"We could have closed that game earlier but we ran a few risks too," Chiellini told Tuttosport.
"We were always in control of the situation and we should have won 2-0 but we are used to suffering. Bologna even had the chances to equalize but we should have allowed them to score.
"Nedved? Let's extend his contract for another year and I will back this as well. He is a leader and he dragged us to victory in a difficult moment.
"Tiago? We are happy he played a good game and we hope he can continue like that. He may even get people to change their opinions on him too."
Chiellini also had a few words on Juve's next game on Saturday night when the Old Lady welcomes a wounded Roma side to Turin, in a what is being billed as a crunch match.
"Saturday there is Juve - Roma and we want to win beacuse that will launch us right up there in terms of chasing the leading pack," added the stopper.
"We dropped many points against Napoli and Palermo but we have reacted to this."
The Bianconeri are now just five points off the league leaders and they will be hoping to close the gap even further against I Lupi.
