Lippi: Conte To Coach Juventus
Lippi: Conte To Coach Juventus
Italy coach Marcello Lippi is backing former Juventus midfielder Antonio Conte to take the reigns at the club if Claudio Ranieri gets the chop...
The Bianconeri are going through a stormy cloud following a number of negative performances. Reports in the peninsula have drawn a sad picture of the situation at the club with talk of player - coach bust up's and the possibility that Ranieri maybe axed as soon as Sunday.
Lippi has been watching the drama unfold at arms length and he has given the Old Lady an idea of who the next man should be.
"Conte? He is a Juventus man," Lippi told Tuttosport.
"I really hope he goes to coach them because being in charge at a club like Juve is amazing. He was a captain there and he flied the flag for many seasons.
"I wish him all the best from the bottom of my heart for him to coach the Bianconeri. He was one of my most important players when I was there and we obtained some great success.
"Those achievements were down to his qualities and he transmits those to his players. He has a positive mentality on the pitch and he has great ideas as a professional coach."
Ranieri's constant tinkering as well as his inability to change his side's fortunes may see him being replaced.
A number of coaches have been touted as potential candidates including Lippi's assistant at the Azzurri, Ciro Ferrara.
Conte, however, may relish the challenge of coaching a top side and he may come in sooner rather than later.
