Camoranesi Misses Out On The Derby
Camoranesi Misses Out On The Derby
Juventus and Italy midfielder Mauro Camoranesi was looking likely to return from injury for this weekend's Turin derby against city rivals Torino, but coach Claudio Ranieri has decided to rest him for another week.
Juventus have suffered somewhat of an injury crisis of late, with top players like David Trezeguet, Gianliugi Buffon and Mauro Camoranesi all falling victim to physical problems.
This weekend the Bianconeri take on their city rivals Torino, and coach Claudio Ranieri was hoping one of his star midfielders would be able to play some part in the derby.
The Turin derby between Juventus and cross-town rivals Torino is one of Italy's most bitter rivalries, and this year will be no different. Juve are suffering with a number of injuries at the moment, but Torino also have their fair share of injured players, with goalkeeper Matteo Sereni the latest victim with an ankle problem keeping him out of this weekend's match.
Although the Bianconeri lead their Champions League group, they are way off the pace in Serie A and a much needed win against the Granata will be the key to help the club rise back on its feet. A man who could have helped the 'Old Lady' to achieve the win is Camoranesi.
Yesterday good news from the training ground suggested that the Italian international may have been able to play even a small part in the game, as the midfielder carried out practically the whole workload yesterday along with his team mates, only missing the last few minutes.
However, Ranieri did not pick the skillful attacking player for the derby and he is expected to return to full training during the course of next week, after missing this weekend's game.
