Four Fans Arrested In Turin Derby
Juventus edged out Torino in the Derby della Mole last night, but fan trouble marred the encounter as four supporters were apprehended before and during the game.
The Bianconeri deservedly claimed the Turin bragging rights, as Brazilian hitman Amauri's solo effort was enough to separate the sides at the Stadio Olimpico and further increase the pressure on Granata's boss Gianni De Biasi.
But it has been revealed that rival sets of fans clashed prior to the game and the police were called in to help an Old Lady supporter who had been ambushed by a group of Torinisti.
According to Italian news agency Ansa, a Juve fan was arrested because he was found carrying a knife, whereas two Granata supporters were charged with using or threatening to use force against police officers and also resisting the arrest.
Another Toro fan was apprehended in the Curva Nord during the match, after he had torn off a seat and was preparing to hurl it toward the adjacent Bianconeri stand. The episode occured in the second half, soon after Amauri had given Juve the lead.
Moreover, a Juve fan fell down from the second tier of the Olimpico after the final whistle. He allegedly went overboard celebrating the triumph and accidentally tumbled down from the Curva Scirea. He was immediately driven to hospital and his condition is reportedly not serious.
