Del Piero And Ranieri Make Peace

Del Piero And Ranieri Make Peace

Claudio Ranieri and his captain Alessandro Del Piero engaged in a heated ten minute training ground discussion last week, which consequently resulted in the captain storming off the pitch, visibly angry and unhappy as he left the training centre.

Being the man he is, however, Del Piero has come to realize that for the good of the club, he must attempt to iron out his differences with the boss to ensure that he can help his side overcome their difficult period. At the same time, Del Piero is aware that if he wishes to earn a recall to Marcello Lippi’s Italian squad, then his own personal form simply must improve.

As a result, the captain arranged a meeting with his coach to clear up what happened on the training ground around 10 days ago, whilst assuring the fans to be patient with his side.

“Sure there have been some arguments in the dressing room in the early stage of the season, but I can assure you that the group is united, compact and serene,” he explained.

And more importantly, the Juve number 10 went on to add, “We are all heading in the same direction.”

The meeting between the captain and the coach was a purely technical discussion, whereby they addressed the current crisis and specific players in the squad. It is expected that Ranieri will wield the changes for his side this coming weekend, although he has stated that he will await the return of those on international duty before making any decisions.

Meanwhile, the only Juve player to take part in Italy’s scoreless draw with Bulgaria on the weekend, Giorgio Chiellini, has commented on his side’s current crisis.

“I'm the only one here representing Juventus. I have spoken with my team mates from Juve who are not on international duty, and I am confident that we will be a different and improved side next weekend.”

On the injury front for Ranieri, Gianluigi Buffon is still out for another two months, as is Cristiano Zanetti, whilst the recovery of Camoranesi is still uncertain. The Bianconeri are desperately struggling on and off the field at the moment and Ranieri will certainly be hoping that his players are refreshed and raring to go against Napoli this weekend.
