Legrottaglie Extends Juve Stay

Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie has signed a contract extension with the club until 2011.

Legrottaglie arrived at Juventus in 2003 after a promising spell with Chievo Verona, but he failed to impress in black and white and was subsequently loaned out to a Bologna and Siena.

However, he returned to the Bianconeri in 2006 and since then has been a mainstay in central defence, even working his way back into the plans of Italy coach Marcello Lippi this season.

It was announced today that Legrottaglie has signed a contract extension that runs until June 2011. "For me it is an immense joy that I can continue to wear these colours," commented the 31-year-old.

In the past two seasons, Legrottaglie has formed a formidible partnership in centre defense with Giorgio Chiellini and it looks like Juventus wish to continue with that tandem in the foreseeable future.

The former Chievo player is known as a very religious person and ended by speaking of how his faith has rewarded him. "God is faithful to those who love and follow him," he concluded.

Legrottaglie is expected to play in Juventus' next match, when they host in-form Palermo at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
